Richie was accused of seducing the head of his online fan club, Alison Hall, 29. She said: "He knew I would do anything for him and he used me for sex."
The star, 47, who plays Albert Square's Alfie Moon, did not deny her allegations, but insisted his four-year marriage is stronger than ever.
His spokesman said: "Shane and his wife Christie have been aware of these allegations for some time and they remain fully united."
Richie has told BBC1 soap bosses he will return to work today as normal.
Ms Hall claimed that Richie, who has three kids with Christie, 32, ended their affair last year. He previously cheated on his first wife Coleen Nolan, now 46.
